SPRINT AND MARATHON

The Judge has proven to be the top design in sprint and marathon racing. Available in three sizes and two construction weights for marathon or sprint, we have the boat for everyone. All our boats are now fitted out with normal UK fittings, including a seat platform system made from Prepreg carbon. Your new boat will be delivered, ready to go straight on the water, all you should have to do is adjust the seat and footplate to suit, it's about the only thing we cannot do for you.

We should have new pictures of the Judge soon

The ICF removed the minimum width restriction on Sprint Kayaks after the Sydney Olympic Games.  Double Dutch took the medal winning Judge as a starting point and built a complete new kayak.

The Panther

Built to the new ICF regulations, it has a scalloped deck to allow you to place your paddle in the water closer to the boat and no wing but remains a fast stable platform .  First seen on the World Class Performance stand at the Birmingham International Canoe Exhibition, it created a lot of interest from all paddlers.  When paddled on the water, first impression was of how stable this narrow boat felt.  It was paddled at Lincoln in a 30mph headwind and Dave Duff ( GB paddler) was very impressed with how stable it felt considering it was a boat which he had literally just jumped in and paddled a 8 mile training session in.   Danny Golder of Elmbridge and World Class Performance said, after paddling it on the Thames, "it feels very similar to the Mosquito and the Destroyer".  The Panther is available in all constructions.

Dutch Composites project over the winter was to produce a winning K2 design.  Using the same design features which are now considered almost mandatory, ie, minimum width, narrow decks, Neil Baxter has once again produced a stunning boat,  called

The Tango.

The Tango

Congratulations must go to Double Dutch for designing and building a superb Marathon K2.  Based on the original Van Dusen K2, the Tango has kept the speed and acceleration, but has been modified to become an excellent all round competition craft.

The raised front deck is a definite advantage over conventional designs, since I have raced the Tango, I have yet to need spray decks on the front cockpit.

The boat has been narrowed in the mid and rear sections, making a more efficient and comfortable paddling position.  The Tango still maintains enough width to stay buoyant in choppy conditions.

The boat handles very similar to the original Van Dusen K2, with the increased volume making wash hanging in big groups a pleasure.

The Tango I have been racing is a full Kevlar/Carbon version, built to Double Dutch’s normal method of full epoxy resin and vacuum bagged construction, as are all their boats.  The boat weighs 12kg fully fitted and includes foot pumps.  The boat is very rigid and is standing up well to the rigours of top class marathon racing.

I recently paddled a vac-bagged Regina – What a Tub,            give me the Tango everytime.
