Short Slalom Boats

Why?

Shorter Boats 2005
The SLR Committee recommend

There has been much useful feedback from the Slalom Website on this issue. The SLR Committee recommend that the minimum length rule be removed 2005. Width and weight rules should remain as at present. The rational for this proposal is as follows. The reduction of the length of boats is good for the development of the sport, especially the Development Programme.
It is essential to retain width and weight for safety.
It is also important to retain the minimum course length so that any changes in boat design are gradual. It is not the intention to promote radical changes in boat design or in the nature of slalom racing.

When the I.C.F decided to change the rules they started a chain of events which caused the some of the biggest debates in the slalom world for many a year.  The big question was,

Q.    Could a 3.5 metre slalom boat be as fast as a 4 metre boat.

Dutch Composites were convinced they would be and started work on the short design immediately and produced their first short boat

The Paradox 65, 75
Then with the knowledge gained from developing the Paradox, came
The Scimitar   65, 75, 85
Like any highly tuned racing machine it has too be handled carefully to get the maximum performance from it.  if you take the time to learn how to make it perform, we think it will prove to be the fastest design on the market.  Available in 3 sizes, 65, 75 and 85, paddlers prepared to adapt their style for the ultimate performance will have the advantage.
For paddlers still in love with their Optima, we have our latest design
